How to Brew Your Perfect Organic Chai
Brewing at home
With teas, we all like ours brewed in a particular way. Whether it be really strong, super weak or everything in between. Hot, warm, iced? Milk, no milk, different types of milk… the possibilities are endless and very individual.
As with our Organic Chai, there are numerous ways to brew it, depending on what you have in your kitchen and how much time you have.
CLASSIC BREW METHOD
Using a stove top (2 Cup Serve)
- Add a cup of boiling water per person to a saucepan (approx. 150ml)
- Add 4 heaped teaspoons (28g) of chai to the pot
- This is where you can add your own extras. A slice of fresh ginger perhaps?
- Bring slowly back to the boil and simmer and stir for up to 5 minutes. The longer the time the stronger the brew. Do not brew for longer than 5 minutes as the bitterness of the tea will come through
- Add a cup of your choice of milk per person (approx. 150ml).
- Very slowly heat until milk is heated
- Strain into cup
- Add extra honey to taste
- Sprinkle Magic Chai Dust on top to complete the perfect Chai
CAFE STYLE LATTE
Using a coffee machine (1 Cup Serve)
- Put 2 Heaped Teaspoons of Organic Chai to a milk jug (approx 14g)
- Add 150ml of boiling water (change water to milk ratio depending on the strength you like)
- Brew for 4 minutes
- Add 100ml of your choice of milk
- Steam using wand
- Strain into cup
- Add extra honey to taste
- Sprinkle Magic Chai Dust on top to complete the perfect Chai Latte
TEA POT METHOD
2 Cup Pot
- Add 4 heaped teaspoons of fresh organic chai into the teapot (28g).
- Add 450ml of boiling water
- Add your extra garnishes here. Fresh ginger?
- Brew for 4-5 mins
- Strain and serve chai into cup
- Add milk to taste
- Add extra honey to taste
- Sprinkle Magic Chai Dust on top
CHAI SYRUP
For the time poor and for iced lattes
- Add 150g of Organic Chai to 1 litre of boiling water in a saucepan
- Simmer for 5 minutes
- Strain into a 1 litre bottle making sure to get all the last drips out of the chai and spices. That's where a lot of the strength is
- Let it cool and pop in the fridge
- Use approx 60ml per cup
- Add hot or cold milk of your choice
- Add ice for extra chilled iced latte.
